In 1987, Nicholas Pileggi of NY Magazine investigated the Cuomo's mob connections and found that they were heresay and baseless. I am not saying that Mario had mob connections, but it seems that the author was biased in his investigation. Regardless, Mario Cuomo's own son, Chris of CNN would have connected his father to the mob based on his obsession with Trump and Russia and weak evidence. I have quotes below regarding Chris discussing Trump and Russia and quotes involving his father and the mob.

Mario mob quotes: "In fact, when Paul Castellano, the mob boss, was executed in 1985 in front of Sparks Steak House in Manhattan, Mr. Cuomo urged reporters to refrain from invoking the word Mafia in reference to the hit. “Every time you say it, you suggest to people that organized crime is Italian,” he said. “It’s an ugly stereotype.”

When it came to CNN airing audio about Cuomo's father-in-law being an arsonist, a reporter stated: "But a TV reporter who worked on the story said, “So far, I’ve got nothing airable. The tape is basically hearsay. The standard of proof has to be exceptionally high. You need evidence that would stand up in court.”

Chris Cuomo on the phony dossier story CNN aired:

"Cuomo defended his CNN colleagues' reporting and said the network was doing its job of bringing to light credible and relevant information about the next president of the United States.

That Trump labeled CNN "fake news" in response during his Wednesday news conference only further convinced Cuomo that the story was legitimate.

"What they said is true, and my challenge is a simple one to critics: I get that you don't like this story — if you're from the right, or you're a follower of Trump, or you're a fan of his, I get it. Chris Cuomo on Russia involvement with Trump with Wisconsin Rep. Sean Duffy:

“We both know, as attorneys, it is naive at best to suggest we could know,” Cuomo said. “We don’t know what the FBI has or what they don’t have now in the hands of Bob Mueller, and to suggest that this relatively early in an investigation for the FBI—they often look at things for years—that they should know or they should have told people what they have and the proof should be out there, that’s equally deceptive, don’t you think?”

Duffy started to say he didn’t buy into the collusion conspiracy accusations before Cuomo interrupted.

“But you can’t know whether there was or not,” he said. “That’s my point. How do you know there was none? How do you know that there was? You can’t know. You don’t know the proof.”

Mario's reaction to mob-tie allegations "What really incensed [Mario] Cuomo was the idea that if you really want to go after an Italian American, all you have to do is say the M word {Mafia}, and he would instantly be put on the defensive and have to prove to the world it isn't true. That irked him. It touched a chord."
