Neil Gorsuch will be confirmed to the Supreme Court on April 7, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell guaranteed on Tuesday.

“He’ll be on the floor of the Senate next week and confirmed on Friday,” McConnell told reporters. “We are optimistic that [Democrats] will not be successful in keeping this good man from joining the Supreme Court real soon.”

McConnell is a lot tougher than wuss Paul Ryan.

Mitch held firm on Garland, and HE WILL hold firm on Gorsuch.

The committee votes on April 3.

The full Senate will vote to confirm Gorsuch on April 7.

People forget how ballsy that was. The turtle stood up to all the pressure and stood strong. I remember reading how no one on FR believed he would defy Obama but he did!

April 7th is very appropriate. It marks the anniversary of the demonrats greatest defeat. It’s the day Lee contacted Grant to begin the surrender of his pro-slavery army.

Yep, they’ll need to examine McConnell’s Scotch for traces of testosterone, after saying this. Leahy had to walk-back his comments about not filibustering today, as usual, Democrats show 100 times the party unity that Republicans do.

Knowing what is at stake I can’t see the Dems leaving any stone unturned. They may regret losing the filibuster later but in many ways it’s like a Hail Mary pass and if they don’t win the game, it’s over for them anyway.

Exactly. Many freepers here thought McConnell would cave. HE DIDN’T.

I also remember how the media kept saying, over and over again, that the Republican Party would pay dearly(come the November election) if they kept Garland from a vote? lol

Lamea$$es in the media were wrong. AGAIN.

The democRATS are going to rue the day they ever let Harry Reid blow up the 60% rule, allowing McTurtle to pull the trigger on the same nuclear option for a Supreme Court justice.

Now Reid is gone and the short-term advantage they had back then, will blow up in their faces. Not just when Mitch does this for Grouch, because he theoretically won't change the balance of the court, but they will have 1 or 2 maybe even 3 more liberal Supreme Court justices that Trump could have to replace before his term(s) is out, and that will change the balance of the SC for decades to come.

This, of course, is based on the assumptions that McConnell will be willing to pull the switch on the nuclear option, a couple more liberal justices resign or pass away which Trump can replace and the GOP retains the Senate majority in order to have the votes.

Iffa', coulda', woulda', shoulda'.....

Opening Day at Keeneland and the Gorsuch confirmation on the same day would be a nice Daily Double.

I don't know why. Pretty much everyone, Left and Right, Democrat and Republican, seems to think he will. Democrats don't have the votes, and are bleeding support (Joe Manchin, Heidi Heitkamp, even Patrick Leahy).

Meanwhile, the Republicans in the Senate, even the usual suspects (Graham, Collins, Murkowski) are all united for Gorsuch, and are saying a Democrat filibuster would be unacceptable.

Unless Gorsuch gets caught with a live boy or dead woman in his bed before the end of next week, I don't see how he's not confirmed.
