The statement comes in Britain’s official submission on proposed amendments to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, to which the UK has been a signatory since 1976. The UN treaty says a “pregnant woman” must be protected, including not being subject to the death penalty.

Yet in the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office submission, Britain opposes the term “pregnant woman” because it may “exclude transgender people who have given birth”. The suggested term is “pregnant people”.

The UK government is pushing the UN to say pregnant people instead of pregnant women because it may exclude transgender people who have given birth.
This is insane. Lol wtf is going on in the West? Even feminists are apparently outraged at this new proposal. Is this a new low?

I mean I get what they're going for, but "have given birth" and not "are pregnant"?

And isn't trans who is pregnant a woman?

And is it even possible?

I mean, “pregnant people” is the same thing as “pregnant women” because if it’s pregnant, it’s a woman even if it has a beard.

On one side of the coin , it doesn’t hurt me at all to cede semantic freedoms to left-wing lunatics, but on the flip side it seems wrong to continue normalizing profound mental illness.
 
Thank God. We need to protect the millions of pregnant trannies from these kind of micro aggressions. In the bad old days when I was an entitled white overlord, I thought war, famine, disease and poverty were the things we should be trying to solve. Luckily I am woke now and realize that protecting the fee fees of blue haired lunatics is the highest ideal we can strive for.

As far as I know a trans woman can't get pregant (yet). I guess they are being forward looking in their legislation??
 
How does the term pregnant woman exclude transgendered people?

Also, if the term pregnant woman excludes transgendered people, so does the term pregnant person.

It also does not exclude FtMs who have already given birth, as they wouldn't be a pregnant woman.

I'm English and I've never known of a single case of someone being upset by the term "pregnant woman" because MtF trannies can't get pregnant. Lots of real women can't get pregnant.
