I missed in the post the confirmation. Also fighting the champ instead can never be ducking.
 
How is it confirmed?

We need to see details of why he turned down a fight. or anything. A duck picture & a desert don't tell us anything. o_O

Edit: He wanted UFC 217... he didn't turn anything down. It was a scheduling issue & the UFC just said f*ck it

I guess that's true...although one could easily make the case that Tony is the better fighter between the two. Conor has the better hands but he'd get pieced up pretty bad vs Tony imo if he didn't get an early finish. It would be too easy for Tony to attack Conor with kicks/knees when Conor gets tired...with his size advantage. Doesn't take long for Conor to get tired in fights that are actually tough...vs Eddie he just had his way. But Conor has looked pretty good his last two fights...but there's no reason for him to fight Tony anyways lol take the bigger fight against a guy who's head doesn't even seem to be in figthing 100% an who is always injured...although a great fighter. But with that being said there is still a clear route for Khabib to fuck him up bad with the way they match up...it could definitely happen. And Khabib is big too like Tony. Just goes to show how bad to the bone Tony is imo...although he does lack a big name.

Was Lee given the option of fighting Conor when he comes back? I doubt it

This is precisely what makes it ducking--he knows that a loss ruins his chances of getting a title shot and/or big payday any time soon so he's ducking his most dangerous opponent to preserve his undefeated record and chance at a title shot.

Could also be that he knows he can only make that extreme weight cut a couple of times a year so he doesn't want to burn one on a non-title fight if he has a chance of getting a TS anyway.
 
Khabib shouldn't be given a title fight. Dude is way too notorious for pulling out. Pulling out is to cum on her tits only. Not to ruin anticipated fight after anticipated fight.
 
what a tool. khabib ducks ferguson to fight mcgoat who might not fight again. while doing this the UFC did the right thing by blocking khabib's chances at a fight with mcgoat by scheduling ferguson vs lee for the interim belt.

i don't like ferguson, but i feel bad for him being out for so long waiting for an interim fight with khabib.

i just hope that the UFC doesn't reward khabib with a title fight if mcgoat doesn't come back to mma after the mayweather fight.
 
Here's my opinion

Neither Khabib or Tony has to fight eachother or someone else to get a shot at McGregor

They've done enough

Tony vs Khabib was supposed to be a contender eliminator match for McGregor just like Aldo vs Franky
 
Then why is there an interim belt?

Doesn't this mean Ferguson vs Lee will fight Mcgregor next?

Dana has said he had surgery and wasn't recovered for 216 but would fight at 217... Dana needed a big name fight for 216.
