Welterweight champion Tyron Woodley revealed on UFC Tonight on Wednesday that he will put his belt on the line against top contender Demian Maia on July 29 in Anaheim, Calif.

“He’s coming for the belt. Guess what: I ain’t giving it up easy,” Woodley said. “I’ve been training, cutting those angles, making sure I leave that head up. I know he’s gonna try to go for the legs, try to put me on the ground and work his jiu-jitsu game, so I will be very, very well prepared for this fight. I’m excited man. Going out there one more time and defending my belt.”

UFC 214 takes place at the Honda Center and is headlined by a light heavyweight championship rematch between Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones. Also slated for the card is a clash between Cristiane Justino and Tonya Evinger for the vacant women’s featherweight title.

Woodley is unbeaten in his last five Octagon appearances. “The Chosen One” captured 170-pound gold with a first-round knockout of Robbie Lawler at UFC 201 last July and then battled Stephen Thompson to a majority draw in his first defense at UFC 205. Woodley got some closure in the rematch with “Wonderboy,” as he captured a majority decision over five rounds in his most recent outing at UFC 209 on March 4.

Maia, meanwhile, has patiently worked his way to the top of the division, winning seven consecutive fights since May 2014. During that time, the Brazilian jiu-jitsu ace has bested the likes of Jorge Masvidal, Carlos Condit, Matt Brown, Gunnar Nelson and Neil Magny in impressive fashion. The 39-year-old Maia owns a 25-6 career mark, with 12 of those triumphs coming via submission.
