Seems like Diaz has a lot of options
I agree with a lot of that, but I think it's actually the opponents who try to "put in on them" that end up being their biggest wins. Anderson made a career and a highlight reel out of aggressive high output guys like Leben, Forrest, Vítor, etc...I am not interested in any contest involving Wonderboy.
He is a "fight to not lose" fighter, and matching him up with a "do nothing but taunt" fighter like Nick Diaz, is NOT a good idea.
It looks good on paper, but we have already seen Diaz vs Condit. Boring. Diaz vs GSP. Boring. Diaz vs Silva. Boring.
Fighters like Wonderboy, Woodley, Condit, Jose Aldo, Anderson Silva, Diaz brothers and others need aggressive well conditioned high output opponents, who will back them up and put it on them.
People see their names and think the fight will be exciting, but it seldom is. Look at their track records. They either win quickly when facing favorable match-ups or they have boring fights with similar "too scared to pull the trigger" fighters.
I am not fooled.
Would rather watch paint dry than a Wonderboy fight.
Okhe'd ko Nick within 2 rounds. Hendricksesque destruction.
Exactly. Those are the opponents these fighters need. Wonderboy needs to get matched with a "just bleed" type of fighter, a young new and improved version of Matt Brown.I agree with a lot of that, but I think it's actually the opponents who try to "put in on them" that end up being their biggest wins. I wouldn't mind seeing him vs Cerrone.Exactly. Those are the opponents these fighters need. Wonderboy needs to get matched with a "just bleed" type of fighter, a young new and improved version of Matt Brown.
I am looking at the current 170 roster, and I don't see a good fight for Wonderboy. I see match-ups where he can either win in great fashion or win/lose in a snooze fest.
Therefore, I am not looking forward to any Wonderboy match-ups.
I am telling you, those fights look good on paper, because we are ignoring the psychology of both fighters.I wouldn't mind seeing him vs Cerrone.
Daaamn, you're hard to please, might as well just cut Wonderboy and send him to Bellator lol.I am telling you, those fights look good on paper, because we are ignoring the psychology of both fighters.
You are asking for another "technical chess match where both fighters respect each other" i.e. boring staring contest.
The best fight for Wonderboy is an aggressive fighter who doesn't need a long "feeling out process."
None of the Top 10 WW fit this profile.
Robbie Lawler walks forward but hardly ever throws anything, until the last round. Very low output fighter. Wonderboy is just going to run around and pitter-patter like he did with Rory McDonald.
Demian Maia is booked. He is the best match up, because he can't win by points. He will clinch and get to the ground for the choke. Wonderboy probably losing this fight in the first round.
Carlos Condit. ahahaha. Let us just put the two on a track field, and call it a marathon.
Jorge Masvidal. Good match-up. But he is booked. Jorge either loses by headkick KO or we get a bloody fight of the night.
Neil Magny. What the hell is this guy doing in the Top 10? He always looks scared and running until he survives a few close situation. Another marathon fight with a long feeling out process.
Dong Kim. I have never seen this guy fight.
I explained Cerrone.
Gunnar Nelson. Gunnar is a forward pressure fighter, so Wonderboy will be running. This could possibly be another Wonderboy vs Rory McDonald fight.
Tarec Saffiedine. Dude is a gameplan fighter. I see another Woodley vs Wonderboy II. Both fighters waiting for the other to engage and make mistake. Another "technical chess match."
