Today Siltherine showcased the very first gameplay of Battlestar Galactica Deadlock.

The game has been in the works for about a year at Australian studio Black Lab Games, and it's set during the First Cylon War, with a full fledged single player campaign featuring an original Battlestar Galactica story, and multiplayer on top of that.

It's a turn-based straregy game, but factions don't alternate at the controls. Each side selects their orders at the same time, and then the turn plays out simultaneously. There is even a replay system to take a second look at the action.

Interestingly, projectiles like missiles and torpedoes actually work according to physics, so it's very possible to make a wrong move and hit and damage your own ships if you're not careful.

We start with a battle in progress, with the approach phases already done, and Battlestar Athena as the center piece. A second battle in skirmish mode is also showcased (featuring Battlestar Jupiter and Battlestar Artemis), and yes, we do get a nuke in action. The whole thing clocks at about forty minutes of gameplay.

Incidentally, we also hear that co-op multiplayer is coming, even if it won't be there for launch. The single player campaign is based on fourteen story missions on the Colonial side, but it also includes sandbox elements.

Battlestar Galactica Deadlock will release this summer for for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
