Mesut Ozil: Arsenal's attacking stars showed their quality at Everton

Mesut Ozil said he and attacking partners Alexis Sanchez and Alexandre Lacazette "showed our quality" in their first start together as Arsenal demolished Everton 5-2 at Goodison Park.

Ozil put Arsenal 2-1 up in the second half as the Gunners fought back from Wayne Rooney's early stunner and set up Lacazette for Arsenal's third.

Sanchez, who created Ozil's goal, rounded off Arsenal's first league away win of the season, and Ozil told Sky Sports: "In training, we always show our quality together.

"Today, as well on the pitch, you see from the start until the end we played well in front of goal. Especially in the second half, we showed our quality in front of goal.

"We scored, me, Alexis and Lacazette, so we are really happy."

Per Mertesacker praised compatriot Ozil, saying he had provided a cutting edge that had been lacking in recent away losses.

"It was crucial to have Mesut Ozil today," the defender said. "The way he created chances and made the important goal was very good today.

"We created chances, that's never what we lacked, we just lacked the execution in all those away games.

"Even when we were 1-0 down, we showed that still we stick together. We had a good gameplan. We knew they were under pressure and we really took advantage."
