berlin-based designer and illustrator anna horvath james expresses the straight, minimal forms of modernist architecture by stitching colorful tapes into famous interior design pieces. this artistic series is part of an ongoing experiment where james explores architecture, space and furniture through conceptual and playful illustration techniques.

anna horvath james has mainly involved modern and post-modern chair pieces by renowned designers and architects such as rietveld, mies van der rohe and marcel breuer, alongside the carlon bookcase by the memphis group. the vivid combination of blue, green and yellow stripes creates an interesting mix of light and shadow, depth, transparency and character. even more, the choice of colors reflect upon the particular style of that revolutionary era.
