Jerry Yester of Rock and Roll Hall of Famers the Lovin Spoonful, known for their hits Do You Believe in Magic and Summer in the City was arrested in Arkansas for child pornography, PEOPLE confirms.
The 74-year-old musician was arrested by the Attorney Generals office Cyber Crimes Unit on Thursday. He faces 30 counts of distributing, possessing or viewing matter depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child, a Class C felony. . .
According to the Attorney Generals office, special agents began investigating Yester after they determined that someone using a computer at Yesters address downloaded child pornography. The investigation will now be handed over to the 14th Judicial District Prosecutor David Ethredge.
Prior to joining the Spoonful in 1968 as a replacement for original guitarist Zal Yanovsky, Yester also played in the Modern Folk Quartet and served as a producer and arranger for artists such as the Turtles, Pat Boone and Tom Waits.

Jerry Yester was in The Association. I didnt realize he was ever in the Spoonful. What a sad/deviant road he must have taken.
Just exactly how does Big Brother do this, anyway?- ...they started (?) investigating ( him ) after they determined that someone using a computer at Yesters address downloaded child pornography
If they seize the server, they get the server logs or can leave the server up and see who connects to it. From that, they can determine the IP address of everyone who connected, so they know the internet service provider that person uses. The ISP knows or can easily find out which customer is using which IP address and tells the Feds.
They monitor the website that has the porn available and when someone downloads it, it gives them the ip address of the downloader, amongst other things.
I think ISPs report it, but I’m glad to say I never needed to think about the matter.... though I have wondered if it’s possible to set someone up for charges, especially for political reasons..... given the extreme carelessness we have seen in relation to some other “computer forensics” matters with regard to the DNC, etc., can one fully trust authorities if they say someone “downloaded ###” or is found to have certain files? Seems like a hacker might easily be able to simulate a user’s “actions”.... ?? I wouldn’t know, not a techie.
His sister Polly Yester did back up vocals on their first album. She later joined Doris Day to form the duo Yester Day.
Im against kiddie lorn too but there is another big issue in the articleMaybe Big Brother can satisfy his apparently insatiable lust to violate peoples privacy in their homes by monitoring and arresting readers of other sites like say nySlimes or Saloon or even FR?
Disgusting. If you need child porn for your sexual satisfaction, have yourself hormonally castrated.
If you have access to someones computer ( either physically or through a hack ) it is easy to set someone up. All you need to do is to set up a hidden folder and put illegal files in it ( doesn't have to be child porn, could be copyrighted music, movies ). Then you install a file sharing program like emule to run in the background and share those files out to the internet. Most people are not aware of what is running in the background on their computers. Then whoever did the hack "anonymously" reports it to the feds, the users IP provider, or music/tv companies.
Thanks, you’ve given me something new to worry about, heh.... well I don’t keep any computer connected to the internet, I just use a laptop or iPad or phone sporadically.... and no one else ever has access (so far as I know), though ofc one can’t be sure about remote hacking. But I don’t leave anything connected for indefinite periods of time, so maybe I am not too vulnerable to nefarious hacking....?
The odds decrease the less time you are vulnerable by being connected, but all it takes is a few minutes. As long as you run a good anti virus and malware program, keep your OS system up to date, have a firewall running, don't click on attachments in emails that you are not expecting ( or links in emails ), don't click on pop -ups ( even the "red X to close"). Also in your browser install an add blocker ( uBlock origin is a very good one ) and a javascript enabler/disabler. Most importantly , be running as a standard user, NOT as an administrator ( which is the default on the majority of systems). To do that, create an administrator account ( password protected). Log into that account and demote the privileges of your current account to standard user. Now when you run as a standard user, if something tries to install itself, it will ask you for a password. If you were not trying to install something, you know something fishy is going on. One last word of advice. "If you didn't ask for it, don't click it ". Doing all of these should keep you safe.
that’s great, thx! Some of those I already do, but you gave me some new info, much appreciated!!
I always thought they were black!
Jim Yester was in the Association - Jerry was his brother.
Her middle name was Esther. I went to high school with her. She used to scratch my back when I did not want it. But that was Polly Esther Yesterday.
People that download it are just as guilty as the people that make it. I hope every last one of them gets tracked down and jailed no matter who they are.
