Confederate Statues and Capitalism

Confederate Statues and Capitalism

Someone in a famous Paltalk political chat room I favor offered a link from a local morning radio show pair who borrowed the “A Place for Mom” theme. Finding a home for Confederate Statues. They titled their segment, “A Place for Bob”, with Bob for Robert E. Lee.

It was entertaining but I found it thought provoking. The issue of Confederate Statues is simply whether the removal is legal. Assuming the majority of the removals is legally accomplished I wonder where they will go.

This is where Capitalism enters the scene. I believe a display of removed Confederate Statues would be profitable. Privately owned Confederate Statues respectfully displayed near other attractions or visitors’ center may be an attraction.

Purchasing statues would be expensive. The endeavor could begin with someone’s lottery winnings or donor contributions. The objective is to keep admission fees reasonable and remain free of government interference. If it became popular nearby businesses would improve and increase.

The radio show referenced a town’s compromise to not remove a statue of their White Confederate War Hero if they erected a new statue of a Black Confederate War Hero.

Visitation at the nation’s historic Civil War battlefields is usually free. Would you pay to the collection of all the removed Confederate statues?

Absolutely not.

What I ‘vote’ for is to confront the revisionist filth trying to remake our history to their own liking by whatever means necessary to shut them the hell up.

Most of the removals are NOT legal. Leave’em where they are and put up a plaque with the current historical view of their role(s). Destruction of history is a favorite tactic of totalitarians and terrorists.

Removing the Monuments from Monument Avenue in Richmond would be catastrophic destruction and crimes against humanity.

Referring to him simply as “Bob” is patently disrespectful. “Uncle Bob” was a term of endearment, and is how I most often refer to him (which often leaves others, southerners included, clueless as to whom I am referring). If you can’t abide prefacing “Bob” with a simple “Uncle,” then nothing short of “General Lee” will suffice (and the ‘69 Dodger Charger will just have to play that as it lays).
