The UK and US economies will expand more slowly in 2017 than previously predicted, according to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
It said "weaker-than-expected activity" in the first three months of the year meant the UK would grow by 1.7%, compared with an earlier 2% forecast.
The IMF also revised down its US growth forecast from 2.3% to 2.1%. However, its overall global economic predictions - of 3.5% growth in 2017 and 3.6% in 2018 - remain unchanged.

Even without tax reform, I think the economic effects of Trump’s deregulation via executive action is going to result in substantial growth way beyond what they or anyone else is predicting, particularly in the energy sector.
By mid 2018 this will be the main issue in the 2018 elections, resulting in GOP gains in the House, Senate and in state legislatures and governorships. The Dems of course will be trying to credit Obama for this, but with energy leading the way it’ll be obvious that it’s a Trump effect, and then all the mealy mount nonsense that’s being talked about now won’t matter a bit, and anything undone on Trumps agenda in 2018 will be fastracked starting on 2019 after another GOP wave election.
