(CNSNews.com) --  Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) is “not permitted to receive Holy Communion” under the law of the Catholic Church, according to Bishop Thomas J. Paprocki, who heads the diocese of Springfield, Ill., which is Durbin’s home city.

Bishop Paprocki affirmed this point concerning Durbin, who supports abortion, in a post at the blog Renew America by Matt C. Abbott on April 3 and confirmed it separately to CNSNews.com on April 4.

The bishop, in a recent letter to an Illinois pro-life activist, said, “Senator Durbin was informed several years ago by his Pastor at Blessed Sacrament Parish here in Springfield that he was not permitted to receive Holy Communion per canon 915 of the Code of Canon Law. My predecessor upheld that decision and it remains in effect. It is my understanding that the Senator is complying with that decision here in the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois.”

The pastor of Blessed Sacrament Parish at the time Durbin was told not to present himself for Communion was Rev. Kevin Vann, now the bishop for the diocese of Orange, Calif.

I’m just glad to see someone in the church take a stand.

Well I hope these 28% wake up and realize that this is what it feels like to experience the intolerant “tolerance” of the left we’ve been dealing with forever.

Maybe they will start to re-evaluate other beliefs they have held and realize these are also lies and areas of their lives that need some correction too.

Pray these people become rabid conservatives. Seriously. It can happen. Look at the Apostle Paul and never say it cannot happen. Imperfect analogy but consider if we could get conversions of people that are fired up and pissed off and want to make a difference and will work to do so.

Pray for their conversion to solid conservatives in all areas of their life. Being pro-life, it’s a good solid starting point.

It’s hard to believe that any Christians would still be involved in the Democrat Party, but if so they need to get out now.

I guess Pope Frankie is no longer welcome down at the “democrat” party. He needs to quit pimping their agenda now.

If someone was unfortunate enough to be born with two anuses, they would be named Durbin and Perez by scientists. Most fitting!

It's like watching a train wreck in slow motion except in this case it's a good thing.

The dem party seems to be going out of its way to prove it’s the party of hate.

In truth it should be dissolved completely. The problem is the bad actors and bad attitudes will remain among a certain percentage of the population no matter what unless they are stripped of their rights and deported and that’ll never happen.

If ever there was a need to find a cure for the leftist mental disease; it’s now more than ever.

I have two sisters - one a mostly non-practicing Catholic, the other a member of the church choir and an assistant teacher at the Catholic school - and neither of them show any sign of a perceived conflict between their faith and the Democrat Party. Their religious views are swallowed up by the local (Seattle) liberal ambiance. On Easter, my older sister was pontificating on how knowledgeable and accepting she is on gay issues. Yet, as an adult, I several times heard her refer to "flaming fags." I know she hopes I don't remember that, but I do.

we need it around. we need the dems around.

Certainly makes us all look a lot better. Makes voting choices a hell of a lot easier.

What we need is to just keep winning and keep taking more and more offices and positions away from them. They need to stay around because we need crazies to run against but we need to keep winning. This drives them all nuts and stresses them out. They break and get depressed, stressed out. Cuts socialist lives short. Strokes, heart attacks, suicides, overdoses. I have no sympathy for unrepentant socialists. They want to destroy the freedoms of this country while claiming to liberate people. I have Russian folks in the family and they do not speak warmly of socialism and communism. They would have stayed there. They love being here.
