South Korean Adopted At Age 3 Is To Be Deported Nearly 40 Years Later ( breaking up families!)
NPR ^ | 10/27/2016 | Camilla Domonoske

Posted on 10/27/2016 12:29:52 PM PDT by GilGil

Adam Crapser was brought to the United States when he was 3, to start a new life — new parents, new culture, new country.

But his adoptive parents didn't complete his citizenship papers. Then they abandoned him to the foster care system.

And now, as a 41-year-old father of four, he's being deported. Despite his appeals for help, he has been ordered to be sent back to South Korea, a country The Associated Press describes as "completely alien to him."

His predicament is the result of parental failings, a criminal past and acts of Congress.

Democrats breaking up families! I thought Trump was the one accused of this and now we find out the democrats are breaking up families.

Not only are the democrats the bullies but their word is totally worthless. These dems are dangerous. Nothing new.

I guess he was going to vote for Trump. No way they deport him if he was a hillary vote.

They would have let him stay if he had just shouted “Allahu Akbar!”

That’s totally unfair.

We really should find a way to let him stay...

“...a criminal past, and..”

Poor little 3 year-old orphan being deported for no reason — except, er, being a criminal. Trump (who is not in office) is so unfair.

He’s American. Probably very white on the inside. Exceptions can be made but the lefties want the militants more. More useful than this fella.

This is outrageous. I have no problem deporting people who came here illegally, but HE DID NOT COME HERE ILLEGALLY if he was adopted by American parents. They failed him.

How on earth can Obama turn loose tens of thousands of known criminals and deport this man???

I am so disgusted with that pathetic man-child.

Violent alien criminals should be deported to their country of origin. No exceptions. If he were a citizen, it might still make senese to revoke his citizenship so that we could deport him. But, conveniently his status makes it a no-brainer.

The story, in typical LibMedia fashion sort of brushes over his criminal exploits and focuses on (surprise) his children

"After serving time and being released, he racked up several other criminal offenses, including assault.

Actions have consequences. I wonder if the victims he assaulted favor his remaining in the USA? Sounds like he's a welfare case if he does stay, another reason to return him to his country of origin.

There’s an assault conviction. He served his time. The burglary conviction may have been bogus, but he served that time also. He seems to have straightened out. Has he done something else really bad? Register Republican, maybe? How is this guy supposed to make it in Korea?

From the article:

“...Crapser served jail time for crimes including burglary and assault.”

And although he tried to get a green card and become legal, his criminal background made him ineligible.

The law that made him ineligible for Green Card status was passed in 1996, so by the time he applied in 2000 the information was there to show he wasn’t eligible, but he either didn’t do the research or decided he’d try to sneak in anyway. It also looks like he had at least some of his kids after that, so he either thought he’d get away with staying, or even hoped that the additional kids would act as pity armor.

Sorry, as bad as he got screwed by his adoptive “parents” and the Foster system, his problems are pretty much his own fault (had he not been a criminal, he’d have had a much easier time convincing a judge to let him finish the Green Card process).

With my sister-in-law not even able to get a second tourist visa to visit the US because some INS flunky thinks that leaving the US after your intended departure but still before your visit window expires (to say nothing of the actual visa expiration) constitutes “overstaying a visa”, I can’t muster much sympathy for people trying to cheat the immigration system.

He’s been here long enough to complete the Naturalization process: https://www.uscis.gov/us-citizenship/citizenship-through-naturalization

I’m good with having honest, hard-working people immigrate. From what little I skimmed of this article, it sounds like he’s a decent guy. Let him stay, the process is already in place.

Well, he was adopted by two extremely abusive families, who obviously only wanted him in order to get more government money.

Maybe that doesn’t excuse his own crimes, but he seems to have paid for them and grown out of them.

And he has a family of his own that doesn’t deserve this.

I do not doubt that our Federal and State Government bureaucracies make atrocious, stupid and unfair decisions. But it bears keeping in mind that the gentleman in question has a checkered history to say the least:
“Adam Crapser’s criminal record began after he was kicked out of the Crapsers’ house. He broke back in — to try to steal back his possessions, including shoes and a Bible, he says — and was convicted of burglary. After serving time and being released, he racked up several other criminal offenses, including assault.”

I am always suspicious when obviously pertinent facts are omitted like the actual details of “several other criminal offenses”.

This also smells to me like a precedent setting case. Stir up enough opposition for a Korean and then how can you justify deporting those with other ethnicities.
