Economically to the right absolutely. But the progressive liberal wing pulled the party to the far left on social issues which alienates a lot of folks. Dems and Repubs are basically the same on economics and foreign policy is very largely out of either of their hands with the Deep State. Only place where Democrats and Republicans differ is social issues - it's the dog and pony show to distract folks on issues that don't really impact the vast, vast majority of them in their daily lives while the two parties agree on the things that do - and handing over power and control to the corporatists and very rich.
