Is Current Joanna Jed better than Prime 2012-2015 Rousey?

Yes. I think so I think her openers for the most part have been better. Ronda beat some questionable opponents (carmouche, Kaufman, bethe, davis)

Where as jj has beaten gadelha 2x, former atomweight champ penne, and kk is a damn good fighter as well

Depends on what you value more, JJ is better rounded defensively while Ronda had far more potent offense in her main strength. If it was a video game their stats would be like:

Ronda

Grappling offense 11
Grappling defense 9
Striking offense 7
Striking defense 0 (lol)

JJ

Striking offense 9
Striking defense 9
Grappling offense 0
Grappling defense 8

Davis is hardly a more questionable win at BW than former atomweight (as you mentioned) Penne who has proven extremely vulnerable to striking including being outstruck by Esparza. Kaufman was 15-1 when she fought Ronda with wins over Tate, Davis, and Carmouche, she was more proven than KK or Penne at SW.

Oh please. A strawweight Ronda Rousey would have finished Joanna in under a minute.

Relative to her division, Joanna is better.

Yes i think so. She may not steamroll everyone like Rousey has,but she is a dominant fighter who can deal with any situation.

To defeat Ronda, you need KO power.

Joanna has excellent striking but lacks KO power.
She's already injured her hand in a fight before due to all her punches.

So Ronda would eventually get in and win.

She's fighting at 115 lbs. Where are all the one punch ko artists at 115?
Why should she have to ko Rousey, who has fought at 135 and 145 to be better than her overall?

You don't think Holly was on track to winning a decision?

Exactly. If she never head kicked Rousey, the fight woulda just kept repeating itself.

I think she's more consistent while Ronda's highlight reel is better. Kind of like GSP compared to Anderson. GSP is more reliable but Anderson can win more spectacularly, so it depends on what you prefer the fighter with the best "highs" or the most consistent one with no major weakness.

Joanna is probably more well rounded, certainly the superior striker.

I rank them about the same.

In terms of skills, Joanna is light years ahead of Ronda. Ronda is a better athlete, so she can do a lot more with whatever skills she has.

Miesha Tate is more skilled than Ronda, but Ronda is athletic enough to overcome whatever skill Miesha Tate had on her.

This is why athletes take PEDs. Strength and conditioning can overcome skill, and make an average skilled fighter beast.

Ronda Rousey is one of the best athletes WMMA has had thus far, but she was not a skilled MMA fighter.

Yeah, the thing about this thread is that it says 2012 - 2105 rousey, but she always had the issues she did coming into those two back to back losses, they just werent exploited yet. Joanna on the other hand, perseveres despite whatever flaws she has. I love them both,so i dont really care...but its an interesting discussion.

Joanna is more well rounded defensively, Ronda more rounded offensively as noted above. ;)

I think you have to give it to JJ. We've actually seen her overcome adversity and win. The heart and endurance she showed in the 2nd Claudia fight is what champions are made of. We've seen JJ get rocked and fight on and win.

I think Ronda overestimated Holm's ground game after being unable to take her down (and being taken down by Holly).

Holm was a white belt during that fight. If Ronda took her to the ground again and put Holly in an unfamiliar situation, she could have won. Even fans were fooled and didn't realize that Holly was a white belt until the Miesha Tate fight.
