The closed alpha begins later this month, Xaviant said, though a specific start-date was not divulged.
"Launching a closed alpha will allow the community to have an active role in The Culling's development," Xaviant founder and CEO Michael McMain said in a statement. "The feedback gathered from the test will ensure that we are able to deliver the reliable and balanced experienced our players deserve."
Pricing details for The Culling have also been confirmed. The game will sell for $15 when it launches through Early Access on March 8. In addition, everyone who buys the game March 8-14 will enjoy a 10 percent discount, bringing the price down to $13.50.
The Culling aims to "redefine" the battle royale genre. It is a kill-or-be-killed game where 16 players will fight to the death, leaving just one player victorious on the battleground
