Marcos Alonso pulled one back for Chelsea at the end of the first half; and Antonio Conte introduced Alvaro Morata in the second half for his debut.

Alvaro Morata made his first appearance for Chelsea as they lost 3-2 to Bayern Munich
14:30
Chelsea 2-3 Bayern Munich

FT: Chelsea fall just short as Bayern's first-half damage is enough to secure International Champions Cup victory.

14:29
Morata muscled off it

90+3mins: It's been a quiet cameo from Morata, as he goes over a challenge from Hummels. Dare I say in Spain he would've got the free-kick. Diego Costa would certainly have complained.

14:27
Blues how battling qualities

90+2mins: Chelsea did not play well in the first half, but their response in the second shows something about the mentality Conte has installed. Tactically, he tweaked it at half-time, and they've been far more compact and resolute.

14:26
We're into four minutes of stoppage time
14:24
How much have Bayern got left in the tank?

87 mins: Chelsea have done ever so well to haul themselves back into the game. They've got stronger as the contest has worn on.

Of course, it's been an arduous pre-season for Bayern, with low-key friendlies back home followed by a tournament before even coming out to Asia.

They've had Arsenal, Milan with Inter to come. So lets see how much they've got left in the tank.

14:21
GOAL!!!! Chelsea 2-3 Bayern Munich (Batshuayi 86 mins)

86 mins: Now then. Are we set for a Grandstand finish? Fabregas' cross to the near post towards Morata is flicked on by a Bayern defender, and Michy Batshuayi is there to prod home from close range.

14:20
48,522 into watch today's game. Thank you for your support.

We were told it was a sell-out but the official attendance for today's game has been announced as 48,522.

14:17
Tomori heads wide

82 mins: Victor Moses has moved to the left, with Tomori on the right, and the pair link up as the youngster reaches the Nigerian's in-swinging cross cannot be headed on target.

14:16
Ribery and Muller off

81 mins: Two veterans but with huge parts to play, Thomas Muller and Franck Ribery, are receiving a standing ovation, as they make way.

14:15

80 mins: Chelsea have been looking to press Bayern high up the pitch in the same way they were in that first-half, when all the damage has been done. But Bayern are digging deep and doing their defending, with the pace of Coman on the break.

14:14
Two changes for Chelsea
14:14

77 mins: We've got 13 minutes remaining as Felix Gotze wins the ball fairly from Morata. Chelsea need two goals to force penalties.

14:09
Time for the second drinks break

75 mins: It's time for the second drinks break, after Coman has won another free-kick off Alonso.

Chelsea are looking for a big finish with Alvaro Morata now on the field
14:09
OFF THE POST!!

74 mins: This is a good spell from Chelsea. Batshuayi lays the ball off to Willian, and with Hummels and Martinez for once ragged, the Brazilian really should've done better, but he can only blaze over!

David Luiz then really looks to take the game by the scruff of the neck, taking on a hot from range that deflects off a defender and hits the post! He didn't really catch it sweet, but Luiz has really injected life into Chelsea.

14:06

71 mins: Alonso again gets forward and is found by a lovely pass from Fabregas. He gets his shot away and goes down theatrically, but the referee has spotted an earlier infringement. Alonso was marginally offside.

14:05
CHANCE!!

70 mins: Great play from Ribery to wriggle clear of a few tackles before the Frenchman releases James.

This time his shot is on target, but Courtois gets down with the shot close to his body. It's the best of work from the Belgian so far tonight.

14:03
CHANCE!!

68 mins: James has left his shooting boots at home. Chelsea are stretched once more, and the ball is worked into the space vacated by Moses. The forward's shot fizzes wide of the far post. It just isn't his day...

14:02

MATT BARLOW: Great roar for Morata as he enters the pitch for his Chelsea debut. The £70m record signing has started out on the left wing. Batshuayi up front.

Alvaro Morata in action during the early stages of his first appearance for Chelsea
14:01

66 mins: David Luiz is straight into the thick of the action, wining a free-kick. Morata loses his first aerial battle with Martinez but he is swiftly on his feet, working the channels to win a throw-in.

Javi Martinez wins the ball from Morata in his first challenge in a Blues shirt
13:59
David Luiz and Morata on

64 mins: After Sanches blazes over, a chance for two changes. One of them is Alvaro Morata, with Boga making way. David Luiz is on for Christensen.

Milos Pantovic is on for Bayern in place of Tolisso.

13:57
Enter Morata

MATT BARLOW: Morata stripped and ready to come on. David Luiz too.

13:56
CHANCE!!

60 mins: That's superb recovery play from Cahill, as right on cue, Bayern exploit the space in the inside left channel with Alonso all at sea, Ribery lays the ball into the path of James, but the England centre-back is there to make a last-ditch challenge.

Cahill has really stuck to his guns today.

Gary Cahill manages to get back in to produce a last-ditch challenge
13:54
Wing-backs concern for Chelsea

59 mins: The role that Alonso and Moses play is very demanding, and in games against quality opposition this could be a warning sign for Chelsea.

Alonso is panting and up against the fresh legs of Coman, while Moses wants to get forward, allowing Friedl plenty of space for that cross for James.

13:53
CHANCE!!

57 mins: Marco Friedl has been impressed down this left side and he produces a first time cross that is met by James, but his header is wide of the post.

Bayern looking very menacing again here. James could easily have had two of his own today. Courtois was rooted to the spot.

13:51

55 mins: Courtois needlessly gives the ball away. By the standards he has set, he won't be happy with his performance so far. He ought to have done much better with the first goal. Willy Caballero will be watching on thinking he might have done better. The distribution has been poor.

13:50
Chelsea need to up the tempo

54 mins: Chelsea are just a bit too slow in possession. It's all well and good having it across the back, but the moment the ball is worked into midfield, Bayern are quickly onto it. They've severely missed the feet of Hazard out there, which really goes without saying.

13:47
James gets back to do some defending

51 mins: Fabregas wins the ball in midfield, with Batshuayi then laying the ball off to Willian. But the Brazilian is challenged fairly by James Rodriguez who gets back to do some defending.

James showing us other dimensions. Would we have seen that at Real Madrid?

13:45
Coman looking to leave an impression

49 mins: Coman makes a bright start, darting to lose Alonso down the right, but his cross is wild and out for a throw-in to Chelsea.

On for Lewandowski, he's another one out to prove he should be first-choice for Bayern.

13:43
Sanches' statement

47 mins: Sanches has always been available for his team-mates as the extra man in midfield and he starts the second half as he ended the first, spraying the ball around.

13:41
Bayern make two changes

46 mins: Coman replaces Robert Lewandowski. Christian Fruchtl is on in goal for Bayern. We're back underway.

13:40

Chelsea look set to stick with the same 11 to start the second half while Kinglsey Coman is already kitted out and ready to play his part from the start in the second period.

Here's the tale of that first half.

13:25
Chelsea 1-3 Bayern Munich

HT: That strike from Alonso brings the first half at the National Stadium to an end.

13:24
GOAL!! Chelsea 1-3 Bayern Munich (Alonso 48 mins)

45+3mins: Right on the stroke of half-time, an up-note for Chelsea. Victor Moses finds room down the right side and his low cross evades everyone, including Batshuayi at the near post - but Marcos Alonso storms onto it and unleashes an unstoppable left-foot drive past Starke. 1-3.

13:22
We're into three minutes of stoppage time
13:21

45 mins: Renato Sanches has really imposed himself alongside Tolisso, and this is a reminder to Ancelotti that he is still a massive talent. His performance has belied the notion that he is low on confidence and set for the exit.

Renato Sanches was intent on giving a statement of his talent in Singapore
13:20
CHANCE!!

43 mins: Now it's Batshuayi who comes close. Moses wants the pass returned to him, but the Belgian striker decides to go it alone, shooting low but Starke gets down to tip his effort around the post.

Spate of corners from Chelsea to end the half as Fabregas gets around the back, and the third of those set pieces sees Gary Cahill meet Willian's out-swinger, but his controlled header is just a whisker the wrong side of the post!

13:18

42 mins: Belatedly in this half, Chelsea have woken up, as Fabregas works the ball out wide to Alonso, but the Spaniard cuts inside and shoots over the bar.

13:17
Bayern winning the battles

41 mins: All over the pitch, Bayern are winning their mini-battles. Rafinha has managed to get forward to score the opener and he is back defending to thwart a rare foray from his opposite man Alonso.

13:15
Chelsea get physical

39 mins: Chelsea need to play off the front a little bit more. They've certainly been told since the water break to give Bayern a reminder of their presence as Marcos Alonso leaves some on Rafinha. A third late one in the last five minutes.

13:13
Willian's free-kick hits the wall

37 mins: Boga wins a free-kick after a foul from Renato Sanches. Willian is standing over it but his effort is straight into the Bayern wall from fully 30 yards. Chance gone.

13:10

35 mins: Tolisso has run the show in the midfield and nice footwork gets him out of danger before he is stopped by a robust challenge from Cahill. He knows he was late there.

Corentin Toliiso has helped his side enjoy 62 per cent possession so far in the first half
13:09
Chelsea go direct

33 mins: Nice work from Fabregas and he releases a long ball over the top for Jeremie Boga, but Starke is quickly off his line to snuff out the danger. A more direct approach for Chelsea perhaps?

13:07
Water break

30 mins: As we have sen throughout this tournament, the teams enjoy a water break after half an hour. A chance for Antonio Conte to get hold of his players.

Antonio Conte will not be best pleased with what he has seen so far
13:06
Moses takes his frustration out on Friedl

29 mins: Victor Moses has hardly seen the ball and he takes his frustration out on Marco Friedl. He rightly goes into the book for a clumsy challenge that was nowhere near the ball.

13:02
GOAL!!! Chelsea 0-3 Bayern Munich (Muller 27 mins)

27 mins: Courtois has conceded three in the opening half. He won't be happy. And this time there really is nothing he can do as Thomas Muller strolls forward through the centre of the pitch and bends his right-footed shot inside his post from 25 yards.

As bad Chelsea have been, Bayer have been brilliant.

Muller curled in a third for Bayern inside the opening 30 minutes
13:02

26 mins: Chelsea are in full retreat as Muller manages to get his pass away to Ribery down the left. He's up against Christensen, who does well to hold him up. The Frenchman looks to find James, but Kante manages to get back in to intercept the danger.

13:00
Willian looks to break clear

25 mins: It's one of the few occasions we've seen Chelsea test Tom Starke's goal but Willian pushes the ball out from his feet on the right and drags his 25-yard shot harmlessly wide.

12:59
Chelsea struggling to lay a glove on Chelsea

24 mins: Chelsea are getting over-run once more. Bayern have far more energy about their play and they the Premier League champions are struggling to lay a glove on them as Tolisso motors forward once more.

On this occasion Azpilicueta manages to hack the ball clear under pressure from Ribery.

12:56
Chelsea full-backs being pinned back

20 mins: Marcos Alonso and Victor Moses have been forced so deep so far. It's been more like a back five for Chelsea in these opening 20 minutes, meaning when the ball is worked to the front free, the midfield is exposed. The extra man in midfield for Bayern is stark.

Jeremie Boga attempts to get past Corentin Tolisso
12:54
CHANCE!!

18 mins: More sloppy play from Chelsea as Cahill gives the ball away close to his own penalty box. Muller snaps into the loose pass and the ball is worked to James Rodriguez at the far post.

The Colombian sees the white of Courtois' eyes, but he can't keep his effort down!

James Rodriguez has a glorious chance to extend Bayern's lead but he fires over
12:52
Ribery putting on a clinic

17 mins: Ribery has still got it. He is brought down once more by Azpilicueta, who has been second best so far in that battle.

Chelsea are struggling to cop with his trickery, while Tolisso has been knitting things together in midfield.

Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery was enjoying himself at the National Stadium
12:51
Chelsea struggling in the humidity

14 mins: It's been a theme of this tournament so far, but the pace and intensity of these games in the International Champions Cup has been frightening. These are not played like friendlies.

Chelsea have been dozy so far, and they've been ruthlessly punished.

Marco Freidl and Corentin Tolisso battle for the ball with Victor Moses
12:47
GOAL!!! Chelsea 0-2 Bayern Munich (Muller 12 mins)

12 mins: Chelsea look stretched once more, it's a clever run from Jams Rodriguez to draw defenders to the near post, and Franck Ribery manages to pick out Thomas Muller at the far post.

Bayern's pride was stung against AC Milan but they've come out the blocks here. It's 2-0 after 12 minutes.

MATT BARLOW: Can’t imagine Chelsea are enjoying it but the Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore has a fancy light show on the roof to celebrate when a goal goes in. We’ve seen it twice in the first 12 mins.

Thomas Muller slots in Bayern's second goal at the far post
12:45
Batshuayi and Willian struggling to click

8 mins: Chelsea are just not getting going in the final third so far. Michy Batshuayi and Willian teamed up so well against Arsenal but Bayern are proving a tougher nut to crack. They've looked sharp.

Mats Hummels snuffs out the danger from Willian
12:41
GOAL!!! Chelsea 0-1 Bayern Munich (Rafinha 5 mins)

5 mins: That's a hell of a strike from Rafinha. The Brazilian isn't closed down by Boga and as the Chelsea defence back off, the right-back lets fly with a low drive that goes in off Thibaut Courtois' right post.

Not the start Chelsea were after.

Rafinha celebrates his goal during the International Champions Cup
12:41

4 mins: Despite the slow pitch it's been a frantic start. Both sides want to get the ball down. Ribery wins a free-kick off Azpilicueta but again they choose to recycle rather than pump the ball into the box. Corentin Tolisso has seen plenty of the ball in these early stages, in his bid to replace Xabi Alonso.

12:39

3 mins: Renato Sanches has just taken a bruising challenge from Cesc Fabregas. He's back up on his feet but an early reminder from the Spaniard that he's in for a game today.

12:38
Chelsea 0-0 Bayern Munich

2 mins: The pitch doesn't look particular quick early on. Could've done with a bit more time with the sprinklers. Chelsea have started with Christensen in the middle of a back three, flanked by Cahill and Azpilicueta.

12:35
We're underway

1 min: Chelsea get us underway.

Chelsea and Bayern Munich line up on the pitch before the International Champions Cup match
12:35

There's a sell-out 53,000 packed into the National Stadium today. And both sides will be in their traditional colours. There's a retro feel to the kits on show with Bayern sporting a pinstripe number this term.

Chelsea fans will need no reminding of the 2011-12 encounter between these two sides in the Champions League, the club's finest hour. It's too soon for new signings Antonio Rudiger and Tiemoué Bakayoko but Morata will hope to play some part in this game.

Looking forward to seeing how Andreas Christensen and Jeremie Boga fair today. Two changes from that 3-0 win over Arsenal.

Ancelotti has made four changes to the side that lost 4-0 to AC Milan.

12:32
Players heading out onto the pitch

It's humid at the National Stadium and that has to be a factor. Chelsea will be staying in Singapore to face Inter Milan later this week.

Bayern are rather under-strength but they still have James Rodriguez and Robert Lewandowski on show. The players are coming out onto the pitch.

There's no points at stake but there's prestige. Kick-off is five minutes away.

12:26
Our man in Singapore

MATT BARLOW: Not involved for Chelsea: Rudiger (just turned up), Pedro (sent home with facial fractures), Kenedy (sent home after diplomatic incident) and Charly Musonda, who is not quite fit after a knee injured and has been training on his own.

Ancelloti rubishes Vidal rumours

Carlo Ancelotti has responded to the rumour of Vidal coming to the Premier League this summer in the build-up to today's game, and the Italian is adamant the former Juventus midfielder is staying put.

He said: 'There is no way. He is our player, we have a lot of confidence. I know there are rumours, but it's normal to have them in this period.

'Vidal will stay with us 100 percent. The market stops on the 31st August. For the moment, Renato [Sanches] is training with, he's working with us and we have time to make a decision together. It can be a possibility [that he will leave] but he may stay.'

Morata becomes Chelsea's 13th No 9

Morata will be the 13th Chelsea player to wear the No 9 shirt since designated squad numbers were introduced in 1993. Tony Cascarino was the first player to wear it.

Mark Stein swapped 21 in favour of the 9 shirt after Cascarino joined Marseille. Gianluca Vialli (40 goals in four years) took over from Stein two seasons later, and Vialli signed Chelsea's next No 9 - Chris Sutton.

He scored one goal following his £10m move from Blackburn, but Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was far more successful, scoring 87 goals in total.

The goals would dry up next, however, with the Serbian Mateja Kezman notching just seven times in his only season at the club.

Chelsea then paid more than £17m for Hernan Crespo, who wore in the 2005-06 season.

The shirt was then passed onto Khalid Boulahrouz, Steve Sidwell and Franco Di Santo before they paid £50m to Liverpool for Fernando Torres.

It was last worn by Radamel Falcao, whose only goal came in a defeat by Crystal Palace two years ago during a loan spell from Monaco.

Morata will be hoping to emulate the success of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink in a Chelsea shirt
12:14
Morata: Working with Conte was my 'destiny'

Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata believes playing under Antonio Conte is his 'destiny'.

Morata joined Juventus in 2014 in the same week Conte resigned to take over the Italy national team Morata: 'Antonio wanted me in the past and it was disappointing but destiny finally put us together.

'I know his work and the staff. I really like his game and know how to play this system.'

Let's see how he gets on today against Carlo Ancelotti, a manager who knows all about him from his time at Real Madrid.

Another new signing has been spotted

Sportsmail's Matt Barlow is at the Singapore National Stadium and brings us this update:

'First sighting of Antonio Rudiger in Chelsea colours. New £32m centre-half Rudiger has arrived today and is jogging around the pitch with a fitness coach. He is not part of the squad for the game.'

11:55
One player not involved in tonight's game is Kenedy

Here's why...

MATT BARLOW: Kenedy has been sent home from Chelsea's pre-season tour after his offensive social media posts sparked an outrage in China.

Chinese media reacted furiously to his online insults and the ham-fisted attempts at an apology by the 21-year-old Brazilian.

The People's Daily, the flagship newspaper of the Communist Party in China, took up the matter, accusing Chelsea of 'humiliating' the nation and threatening to treat the club as 'persona non grata'.

Away from this game...

Chelsea look set to splash £250million in a record transfer spree! Here's Sportsmail's Matt Barlow with the story...

Chelsea are set to answer Antonio Conte's plea for more players by firing their summer spend spiralling towards the £250million barrier.

The Premier League champions have already made four signings for a total of £140million.

And they want to add four more to the first-team squad with Alex Sandro, Antonio Candreva, Fernando Llorente and Virgil van Dijk among the targets.

This could ease them beyond Manchester City who completed a £52m deal for Benjamin Mendy of Monaco on Monday and took their summer splurge to £230m, a world record for a single transfer window.

Juventus left back Sandro, valued at more than £60m, is still a prominent Chelsea target.

Candreva of Inter Milan is another, a versatile midfielder capable of operating in various positions on the right including as wing-back, although he is naturally inclined to attack rather than defend.

MATT BARLOW: Carlo Ancelotti expects Alvaro Morata to succeed at Chelsea after his record transfer from Real Madrid.

Ancelotti and Morata worked together in the Spanish capital and will come face to face in Singapore where Bayern Munich face the Premier League champions in a pre-season friendly.

'He is a fantastic young striker,' said the Bayern boss. 'Chelsea have a really good signing, a player who can help.
