Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez ‘could do great things if he came to Roma’, says defender Maxime Gonalons

Maxime Gonalons has told Riyad Mahrez he could do 'great things' if he ditched Leicester City for Roma.

Mahrez is a target for the Italian club this summer after revealing he is ready to leave the King Power Stadium.

Roma, who are seeking a repalcement for new Liverpool man Mohamed Salah, are currently working on a deal for the winger, but so far their efforts have failed to complete a swoop for the Algerian.

However Gonalons, who recently joined the Serie A side from Lyon, has added fuel to the fire by telling Mahrez he should join him in Rome as he can achieve greatness there.

"Mahrez is a great player," Gonalons told Corriere dello Sport. "He could do great things if he came to Roma.

"What counts, though is the pitch, it is pointless fixing objectives when you haven't played yet."
