Chelsea made an enquiry on deadline day in January over his availability and their expression of interest caused a panic at a number of other Premier League sides. Sportsmail understands Liverpool and Manchester United have kept a close eye on Dembele's development.

There was significant interest ahead of the winter window but it was always going to be difficult for a side to prise Dembele away from Glasgow in the middle of the season.

Dembele is keen to win a domestic treble with Celtic before considering his future.

The move to Scotland has panned out exceptionally for Dembele, who joined Celtic for a fee of around £500,000 last year.

His performances in Scotland mean he is likely to cost around £40million to sign in the summer window.

Dembele came close to a move to Tottenham Hotspur in January 2016, although the move collapsed over his then-club Fulham demanding he was loaned back to them for the remainder of the season.
