Apparently bad for your liver too. My cousin's hubby was moved to Hospice today. Drank his liver to death at age 40. Has a week.

Next week it will be good for you again. Going without alcohol for a few days focuses the mind and makes researchers wonder what the fark they could have been thinking when they wrote that drivel.

yeah, yeah, and red meat will somehow kill me.  I do not care.  Red meat tastes delicious, and so does alcohol.  If I die ten years ahead of the national average then so be it.  It least I will have lived a happy life.

I see drinking as reducing my chances of dying senile and in diapers in some retirement home. I'd rather exit before I get to that stage.

They say with liver failure from drinking that you go into the hospital three times and come out twice.

FTFA: drinkers who imbibed as little as four pints of strong beer or five large glasses of wine a week were three times more likely to have parts of their brain atrophy. The more the study participants drank, the faster their brains deteriorated, and cognitive tests revealed steep declines in brain functioning.
You'll still die senile and in diapers in some retirement home, You'll just be much younger than everyone else there. To exit on your own terms, you need stay out of a nursing home and that requires taking care of your brain.

I can't really say that the first place I turn to for medical advice is MarketWatch. Especially when halfway down the article is a video describing "How your mind can make you fat."

I empathize with you. Booze killed my dad years before I was old enough to partake. His liver disease was brutal to him and to everyone witnessing him suffer from it.

Cigarettes did this to my dad when I was 6ish, first massive heart attack and stroke in '86...knocked out his right side almost 100%, knocked out 100% of his English, for the first few months after he only could say my mom's first name and water. Months and years, less than 1 percent of his speaking/language ability, 40% of right leg, and like 5% of right arms recovered.

From what the docs said his mind was still as sharp as ever but the mind/body interface was shot.

I could not imagine a greater torture for 23 years. I would have begged to be put out of my misery. For all I know...he did.

Suffice to say...ive never smoked a cigarette....and only two girls I've ever had any sort of relationship with smoked (albeit like 2 cigs a week).

Almost everyone (who is still alive, another uncle died of lung cancer) in my parents generation in my family still smokes. To the best of my knowledge only one of my cousins tried cigarettes.

Yeah, it can happen to me, but I am not a carnivore nor an alcoholic.  I eat meat and drink booze in moderation.  But then again, anything can happen.  I have had a main chute failure while skydiving.  I  have flipped over the hood of car that cut me off while I was riding my bike.  I have had some snot nosed twerp inadvertently swing a loaded rifle towards my face and accidentally fire off a round about 5 inches from the side of my head.  Schitt happens.  I deem the risk of eating steak and roast beef every once in a while and 3 or 4 drinks of alcohol a week to be worth it.

By the way, is your sister hot?  Got any pics?

You can partake.  Just do not be an alcoholic like your dad was.

That's the problem. I was headed down the same road and decided to stop it.
