located on a tree lined street in shanghai’s jing’an district is ‘tribeca’, a new york style gastro-pub designed by local studio linehouse. the space is both playful and gritty, with plentiful references and elements drawing from prohibition era NYC.

linehouse wanted to create a strong aesthetic for the restaurant. the interior was gutted upon commission, and repacked with elements including a perimeter of shadowless bulbs and various mirror and bronze insertions that evoke a sense of voyeurism and festivity.

concrete walls are clad with a series of graphical drawings like dancing feet, drunk hats, copious amounts of cigarette smoke, and of course, a couple of bare knuckle brawlers. the interior and exterior collide at the front entrance, where a small amount of outdoor tables await guests.
