No Neighborhood Hoop is Safe with the #DriveByDunkChallenge

Kids are going around dunking on strangers' hoops and it's just good, clean fun. Until you dunk on the wrong stranger's hoop, I guess.

Kids these day, I tell ya, they're pretty fuckin' fun, what with their smartphones and tweeters and phone number symbols. The newest craze appears to be the #DriveByDunkChallenge. It's a pretty simple concept: someone driving a car—basketball in hand—finds a basketball hoop, usually in someone else's driveway, gets out and sprints over to dunk on it, all while someone else films it from the passenger seat. It's good clean fun with just a whisper of danger—dunk on the wrong hoop and who knows what happens; good thing you've got a getaway car.

The format lends itself to experimentation, and this one guy goes full Dukes of Hazard on his way back from the dunk, diving head-first through the backseat window. He's impressively agile and gets it on one leap.

This one features some heart-pounding international thriller music accompanying the furtive dunks. (Nerds, don't own me if the music is from some video game like Syphon Filter or something, I tried Shazaming it.)

My favorite musical accompaniment, though, happens on the third dunk on this video. Our man has a long run to what looks like a park hoop, and his friend is just sitting back jamming out to "Rock With You" by Michael Jackson. Poetry in motion. Also, the dunk immediately preceding it is one in which they appear to stop in the middle of traffic to pull of a dunk. Smart? No. A #DriveByDunkChallenge? Indisputably.

Like everything else in life, though, babies are here to ruin everyone's good time. In this one, we have some lazy-ass kid in a motorized power wheel dunking on a rim that he's eye level with.

Total weak sauce; have some self respect, kid.
