As French website Consomac pointed out earlier today, it looks like Apple is prepping a new set of Mac peripherals, which appear to be coming soon. This speculation stems from code discovered in the most recent OS X 10.11.1 beta, located in the Bluetooth input/output section of the source code. 9to5Mac has since gone on to confirm that the references to new Mac hardware cannot be found in editions of OS X prior to 10.11.1.

Specifically, as depicted in the below screenshot provided by Consomac, the code refers to a “Magic Trackpad 2, “Magic Mouse 2”, and, perhaps unexpectedly, a “Magic Keyboard.” The subtle references to unannounced hardware may correspond with the 21.5-inch 4K iMac soft launch, which begins next week.

Of course, this isn’t the first time we’ve caught word that Apple would be releasing a new mouse and keyboard. In fact, back in August, we reported that the company had filed with the FCC designs for a new wireless mouse and keyboard. While the filings confirmed that the new mouse would be dubbed Magic Mouse 2, it was previously unclear what the Cupertino company would call its upcoming keyboard pairing. We were also completely unaware that a new Magic Trackpad was in the works whatsoever.

And, while we can’t say for sure what the new accessories will consist of, we do know that the devices will be converting from alkaline AA batteries to a rechargeable, presumably lithium, solution. Additionally, sources have speculated that both the Magic Mouse and Trackpad will bolster Force Touch, which was present in the 2015 Macbook and seemed to heavily influence the flagship 3D Touch features defining the iPhone 6s. This could bring pressure-sensitive UI navigation to an entirely new audience.

Apple’s rumored larger iMac could ship with more powerful M2X processor
Man using a 24-inch M1 iMac.

If Apple's recently relaunched iMac desktop with the company's M1 processor is still too small for your needs, you may soon be in luck. Apple is said to be working on a larger all-in-one desktop that will replace the current Intel-powered iMac in its lineup, and the model could get an even larger screen size, similar to the size boost from the 21.5-inch Intel-powered iMac to the current 245-inch M1-powered model.

"I absolutely still believe that a larger, redesigned ‌iMac‌ to replace the Intel 27-inch models is en route," Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman wrote in his Power On newsletter, according to a Mac Rumors report. "Apple increasing the screen size of the smaller model from 21.5 inches to 24 inches seems to indicate that the 27-inch model could see a size increase as well."

A new Mac Mini could launch with a revamped, retro design
Leaked image of the upcoming M1X Mac Mini.

Apple’s M1 Mac Mini is one of the best ways into the Apple Silicon ecosystem, as it offers the same excellent performance as the MacBook Pro for a fraction of the price. According to a new report from leaker Jon Prosser, it is about to get even better. Not only will the new Mac Mini be outfitted with an all-new chip -- likely dubbed the M1X -- but it will also get a new, slimmer redesign too.

Let’s start with the chip. As we mentioned above, the current Mac Mini comes with an Apple-designed M1 chip. This boasts four high-performance cores and four high-efficiency cores in its CPU, while the GPU comes with eight cores.
