Striker may not be one of Liverpool's top priorities this summer, with all signs pointing to Jürgen Klopp's intent to enter next season with Roberto Firmino his first choice to lead the line and with a versatile wide attacker who can fill in up top expected to arrive. Still, most will be expecting the club to acquire a striker at some point.
It might not be the top priority, and it might not be a big name or new starter who arrives, but at some point in the coming offseason there will be a striker. And according to Spain's AS, that striker could be Malaga's Sandro Ramirez, a promising 21-year-old product of Barcelona's La Masia with a reported €6m release clause.
On paper, at least, it seems to make for a sensible rumour. Sandro is young and decently pacy with some ability to play across the attacking three that would help to get him minutes even if he arrived as third choice behind Firmino and Divock Origi. Throw in the cheap release clause, and there's a lot that appeals.
According to AS, it's a package that also has Tottenham, Southampton, and Stoke City looking at Sandro as a potential bargain signing, a player whose transfer fee would be inconsequential by Premier League standards and who they could then offer far more to in wages than any but the top teams in La Liga.
With Sandro not being at the level to especially interest Barcelona and Real Madrid, at least not at this stage in his career, it all seems to clear the path for Sandro to move to England this summer, possibly to Liverpool if AS are to be believed. Which they may not be, but at least on paper it would seem a sensible move.
So far this season, the young attacker has made 27 appearances for Malaga, scoring 14 goals and adding two assists for a goal involvement every 129 minutes he's been on the pitch, a very favourable return for a young striker in any of Europe's top leagues.
