French mayor has to eat a RAT after losing bet on Barcelona's miraculous comeback against PSG

  • Paris Saint-Germain went into their game against Barcelona with a 4-0 lead
  • Barcelona needed three goals in the last three minutes to progress in Europe
  • PSG fell apart during added time, with Sergi Roberto completing a comeback
  • Mayor Charles Dayot of Mont-de-Marsan ended up having to eat a rat as a bet

When Paris Saint-Germain emerged from their first-leg against Barcelona with a 4-0 lead, most people would have put their mortgage on them progressing in the Champions League.

Unfortunately for the mayor of a commune in southwestern France, he went a step further with his prediction for the round of 16 game.

Charles Dayot of Mont-de-Marsan took to Facebook prior to the second-leg to suggest he was so confident that PSG would emerge from the Nou Camp with a win over two legs that he would eat a rat if they went out.

And in the 87th minute, with Barcelona requiring three goals to advance, he would have been confident that he would not be feasting on any rodents in the near future.

Then Neymar scored. A penalty flew in. And finally Sergi Roberto got his toe to a cross to confirm one of the most sensational comebacks in football history.

Which meant that Dayot had to take the incredible step of chowing down on a rat after his bet did not pan out.

Given the game took place back in March, it took him quite a while to get around to eating his meal. But on Sunday he finally managed to follow through on his bet.

The result was part of a stunning comeback as Barcelona scored three goals in seven minutes

Dayot ate the rat while using a PSG shirt as a napkin, letting a Barcelona top rest on the table next to him.

He was clearly slightly more enamored with the meal than he expected, suggesting that the unusual cuisine actually tasted like rabbit.

Barcelona kick off this season with a Spanish Super Cup clash against Real Madrid on August 12.
