Everton sign Theo Walcott from Arsenal in £20m transfer

Everton have confirmed the arrival of Theo Walcott from Arsenal for a reported £20million, with the forward signing a deal until 2021.

The 28-year-old scored 108 goals in 396 games for the Gunners and immediately revealed his intentions for his career at Goodison Park.

“I’m very ambitious and I’ve come here because I want the club to push to the next level,” he told evertonfc.com.

“And with the players that have come in, I feel like the next level can be reached."

During the summer, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Michael Keane and Jordan Pickford were all signed for big money, while Turkey international Cenk Tosun arrived earlier in January for £27m.

“I’m very excited to be starting a new chapter and I felt this was the right place for me to be," Walcott said.

“The manager is very ambitious and I feel like the club is going in the right direction.

“Everton is a club with a great history. The fans are always passionate, they’re great and I always used to find it very tough playing here."

Walcott joined Arsenal from Southampton in January 2006 at the age of 16 and scored his first goal for the club in the 2007 League Cup final against Chelsea. In February 2017, he became only the 18th player in the club's history to score 100 goals when he netted in a 2-0 win against Sutton United in the FA Cup.
