REJECTED! Liverpool turn down third bid from Barcelona for Philippe Coutinho believed to be in the region of £114m

Liverpool have reportedly rejected a third bid from Barcelona for Philippe Coutinho believed to be in the region of £114million.

The Reds turned down a bid last week from the Catalan club, of around £90m, and on Thursday manager Jurgen Klopp insisted the two clubs were not in talks over the midfielder.

Last week Liverpool issued a strong statement clarifying they would not be listening to any offers for their star man.

However, the player later submitted a transfer request and is hoping to engineer a move to the Nou Camp.

The 25-year-old has missed Liverpool's opening games of the season with a back injury and, despite the Reds insistance that no deal is in the pipeline with LaLiga giants Barcelona, the Catalan club have said they are close to signing him.

Coutinho, who signed for the Anfield club from Inter Milan back in January 2013 for £8.5million, signed a five-year contract with Liverpool at the start of 2017.

Despite the large term left on the playmaker's current deal Barcelona are desperate to make a statement in the transfer window after losing Neymar to PSG and their humiliating defeat to Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup.

While Barcelona have recently added former Tottenham man Paulinho to their squad it is no secret the club are doing their utmost to splash the cash on a marquee signing to boost fans optimism ahead of the new campaign.

However, it looks as if the battle for Coutinho, who is also set to be absent from this weekend's clash against Crystal Palace, is far from over.
