UK carrier EE, Germany's Deutsche Telekom expected to offer six months of free Apple Music

Starting next month, U.K. carrier EE and Germany's Deutsche Telekom are both expected to launch promotions in which customers will get six free months of Apple Music, a report said on Friday.

EE confirmed plans to offer the promotion starting Sept. 1, though only for new or renewed post-paid contracts, according to Bloomberg. The carrier's CEO, Marc Allera, didn't say what his company is paying Apple in exchange.

Deutsche Telekom should announce a similar promotion for its original T-Mobile division in September, Bloomberg quoted German media as saying.

Apple Music normally includes a three-month free trial, so new subscribers to the service may in effect only be getting an extra three months. It's not clear what if anything the carriers will be offering to people who are already past the trial period.

Last year, Australia's Telstra gave away one-year Apple Music subscriptions to people signing up for a 12- or 24-month Go Mobile plan with an iPhone 6 or 6 Plus.
