The Dawning Brings Mayhem And Winter-Themed Fun To Destiny 2

Snowball fights, fresh exotics, and the spirit of giving permeate Destiny 2's latest holiday update.

The latest update to Destiny 2 is just around the corner, with developer Bungie's The Dawning introducing winter-themed activities like snowball fights and the revival of the Mayhem gameplay mode in the all-new Mayhem in the Cold Crucible event.

Chief among several new additions to the game are Snowball Fights, which give players the chance to inflict hilariously-massive damage through otherwise innocuous snowballs that can be gathered at various snowball piles across the in-game world. Mayhem, the popular gameplay mode that reduces the cooldown time on abilities, is also returning, and players will be able to complete various milestones toward the new Dawning engrams.

Players will also be able to use their reserves of Bright Dust in order to track down special Dawning-themed exotics, including the ship, sparrow, ghost, various piece of armor, and the Dawning emote. Be sure to keep in contact with Tess, as she'll be refreshing her inventory every week to give Guardians the best chance of stacking up their holiday reserves.

The fun doesn't stop there: the Tower and Farm will be decorated with signature holiday-themed cheer, and players will note the ability to give and receive gifts by snatching up the Dawning Gift Schematic from the Bazaar. Each day, players will be able to give a gift and receive a gift in turn, providing a fun way to celebrate the season of giving in-game.

There should be plenty of time for generous Guardians to get their fill of holiday fun, as Destiny 2's The Dawning event is set to kick off on Tuesday, December 19 and run all the way through Tuesday, January 9.
