New Call of Duty from Infinity Ward coming holiday 2016

A new Call of Duty game a year after the last one came out? Get out of here!

In a move that absolutely, positively surprises nobody, Activision has announced a new Call of Duty game will be coming in time for holiday 2016 and is currently in development by Infinity Ward.

Activision describes the new Call of Duty game as “innovative,” although the publisher doesn’t go into detail as to what makes this one much different from the previous iterations.

Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty will be the studio’s first new game since Call of Duty: Ghosts.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 released this past November and was developed by Treyarch, while Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare released in November 2014 and was developed by Sledgehammer Games. The Call of Duty series is currently on a three-year, three studio development cycle, so let’s just see what Infinity Ward can do with this year’s title.

Eh, I don't think it's fair to call Daniel out for posting the story. Every other outlet posted it. But the story really doesn't deserve coverage. It'd be nice to see more sites opting not to post shallow non-stories like a new CoD being planned for a fall release.

At the same time, they're competing for clicks, views, what-have-you, so I suppose they don't have much of a choice. Even prodigious sites like IGN, Gamespot, and Kotaku have to post fluff to stay in step with the YouTubers who are probably already churning out "what we can expect from CoD 27!" videos.

Yeah, for sure! I certainly didn't mean to seem like I was reprimanding rodney. Just making the point that Daniel probably leaped out of bed this morning hoping to write much meatier stuff, but had to work with what the industry had going on, much like every day.

Imagine a year without Assassin's creed AND Call of Duty. I don't think the industry could survive....

Advance Warfare will drop to $45 when that happens.
