Last year I came across Mugsters on Steam Greenlight (*pours one out*), and it immediately grabbed my attention. And not just because it's a game that makes a great GIF, but because it honestly looked quite interesting.

Steam Greenlight was largely full subpar looking games, but every once in awhile there was a promising looking gem that reared its head. Mugsters was one of those games. However, that didn't help it climb out of relative obscurity it found itself in.

But luckily, I wasn't the only one with my eye on the alien-chase game, apparently Yooka-Laylee publisher Team17 had its eye on it as well. And it obviously liked what it saw. Because today it announced that it has partnered with devloper Reinkout as the game's publishers.

In addition to announcing the partnership, the UK publisher has also released a new trailer, as well as provided word that in addition to PC, the "super-charged action-packed puzzler" will also be coming to consoles. What consoles specifically, wasn't divulged.

In Mugsters you have one simple mission: rescue survivors, run from and defeat aliens, collect crystals, and of course save the world. No big deal.

The game is a physics-based action puzzle game where the gameplay loops is to outrun, out-manoeuvre and outsmart your enemies by experimenting with different sandbox levels, vehicles (over 30), environmental traps, and explosives.

Notably local multiplayer will be supported, meaning all single player campaign missions are fully remixed for full two-player local co-op action.

Mugsters is poised to hit sometime in 2018. Below, you can check out a new batch of screenshots, as well as the new, aforementioned trailer.
