New Smite Patch Offers That Ridiculous Corn Dog Skin for Free
You'll need to play to earn it, but it's fairly easy to do so.
Smite's 3.16 update, which was unveiled last week, is now available on PC, bringing a new character and a variety of skins--the most distinct of which can be obtained for free right now on all platforms.
3.16 introduces Izanami, a Hunter who can do some things no other character in the class can. This includes going stealth and launching boomerang-style basic attacks that return to her. You can read more about her in our coverage last week and see her and her abilities in action in the video above.
On the skin side, the most interesting addition is Bacchus's Hoot 'N Holler skin. This stuck out during the initial reveal for pretty obvious reasons: It puts the character in camo shorts, crocs, a beer hat, and a short tank top, and gives him a giant corn dog as a weapon. With the release of today's update, the skin is available for free, provided you have some time to play in the next two weeks.
To unlock it, you have to complete three quests as part of the Camp Lazy Day event. These quests need to be completed in a specific order but don't ask much of you: You only need to play three normal matches, then gather 50 worshippers, and then earn 30,000 gold. You have until September 15 at 5 AM EDT to do all three quests. The quest is live on all platforms, though it's unclear if you can access the skin before the patch launches on consoles.
You can read about the rest of the patch in our story last week, check out the full patch notes here, or watch the video below for an overview. Other highlights include a buff for the Divine Ruin and Pythagorem's Piece items, as well as for Sylvanus. Fafnir and Erlang Shen both receive small nerfs, while Hou Yi receives the most extensive balance changes of the update. The patch should be available on consoles in the coming weeks.

Developer Hi-Rez Studios also today announced that Smite players raised $36,000 for flood relief efforts in Louisiana. Hi-Rez recently collection a portion of the proceeds raised by sales of a particular chest (which included, among other things, the excellent Mountie skin for Chiron) to donate to the Baton Rouge Area Foundation. This brings the total raised by Smite players to $700,000 since the game first launched in 2014.
