Theater Apologizes for Showing R-Rated Trailer Before PG-Rated Finding Dory

Whoops.

Finding Dory, the follow-up to the beloved Pixar animated film Finding Nemo, launched recently to great totals at the box office. But parents who took their kids to one showing of the PG-rated movie in California had a surprise during the previews before the film began: the theater accidentally showed a trailer of the R-rated animated film Sausage Party.

At one screening in Concord, California, staff at the theater accidentally began playing a different film. It was caught early and switched to Finding Dory, but not before the pretty vulgar trailer for Sausage Party had played. The theater's VP, Walter Eichinger, apologized in a statement to The East Bay Times, saying that it was an "honest mistake" made while trying to "accommodate several large last-minute groups wanting to see Dory."

Sausage Party has characters voiced by Seth Rogan (The Interview), Jonah Hill (Superbad), and Bill Hader (Hot Rod), and its trailers showcase various animated foods being violently consumed by humans. It's clearly not appropriate for young audiences and it's pretty NSFW. You can check out one trailer here (caution: strong language).

As for Finding Dory, the movie broke records at the box office and brought in more money than Independence Day: Resurgence. You can check out our review here.
