Report: Destiny 2 will come to PC

The game will “feel like a proper sequel”

Destiny

The sequel to Destiny is coming to PC, according to several sources cited by Kotaku. A rumor that first cropped up on NeoGAF earlier today has been corroborated by developers "familiar with Bungie’s plans," and Kotaku adds that Destiny 2 is also said to "feel like a proper sequel."

A NeoGAF user who claims to have ties to an Activision staffer posted that they’d overheard Destiny 2 would launch on PC alongside consoles. Although the initial post was vague — the poster said their friend "saw a presentation on another person's laptop" confirming the PC port — Kotaku says it’s verified these claims with its own inside sources.

In 2012, contracts between Bungie and Activision revealed that Destiny 2 would launch on PC, as well as "be compatible with the Xbox 360, Xbox 720 and the Sony PlayStation 4."

Vicarious Visions is also reportedly assisting with the sequel to Destiny, whose final expansion launched last week. Kotaku also reports that the game could have entirely new planets to explore, each filled with towns, outposts and quests said to be more engaging than those in vanilla Destiny. Players also may not be able to carry over their original characters to Destiny 2, according to Kotaku’s sources.

Activision hasn’t confirmed much about the sequel beyond the 2017 launch date. Currently, the game is only available on console, with new expansion Rise of Iron only available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
