Actor and YouTube star Jake Paul is leaving the Disney Channel show Bizaardvark.

The 20-year-old released a statement on Twitter, saying he's "outgrown the channel" and has left to work on other projects.

The sitcom follows the lives of friends Paige and Frankie as they run an online comedy channel and Jake played the character Dirk on the show.

In a statement Disney described the decision as "mutual."

Some reports online suggest the move is linked to the star's behaviour off screen.

Disney haven't confirmed if this is true.

He recently tweeted his address, hundreds of fans turned up, and neighbours accused him of turning the street into a "warzone."

Most of the people that turned up at the home he shares, with other members of his Team 10 YouTube channel, in West Hollywood were reportedly young girls.

Maytal Dahan, one of Jake's neighbours, told local Los Angeles news network KTLA 5 their road "used to be a really nice, quiet street."

"We're families here.

"We're more than happy to have them live here if they're respectful of their neighbours, but they're not."

Jake, who has eight million subscribers on YouTube, also spoke to the channel saying he "felt bad" for the neighbours and the situation was "terrible."

In June, fellow vlogger Alissa Violet accused Jake of kicking her out of the Team 10 house.

She released a video on her YouTube channel, explaining why she left the group.

The fallout was big news on social media with Jake defending his behaviour.

Speaking about his release from Disney Jake said on Twitter: "I love my cast mates and will continue to support Disney.

"But I have outgrown the channel and feel its time to move forward with my career.

"At this point in time I am wanting to focus more on my personal brand, YouTube channel and working on more adult acting roles."

In a statement reported widely in America, Disney said: "We've mutually agreed that Jake Paul will leave his role.

"We thank Jake for his good work on the TV series for the past 18 months and extend our best wishes to him."
