ATLANTA (AP) President Donald Trumps widely criticized response to white supremacist violence in Virginia has left Democrats in a quandary: how to seize the moral high ground without getting sucked into a politically perilous culture war. Democrats have denounced Trump for blaming both sides for deadly protests in Charlottesville, Virginia, and, more recently, for defending Confederate monuments.
But the party faces a complex task: While addressing race and history in ways that reflect the partys values, Democrats also need to focus on issues like jobs and the economy that resonate with a wider range of voters, including white independents, ahead of the 2018 midterm election.

Bump
“politically perilous culture war”
Politically? No, AP. Just “perilous”.
I guess the media is starting to get wind of what most Americans think of this rape of our history by the left with Dem support.
Bannon said it was a trap?
Dems don’t have any issues besides identity politics
Let's see--fanning the flames of racism, encouraging violent racist thugs, erasing history, destroying the economy, increasing dependency on welfare... what's not to like about the Democrat platform?
If the ‘rats think that destroying statues will win elections for them again. They are even more insane then I could have even imagined.
In interviews this week before his resignation was announced Friday, White House strategist Steve Bannon gleefully suggested Democrats are falling into a trap.
I want them to talk about racism every day, Bannon told The American Prospect, a liberal magazine. If the left is focused on race and identity, and we go with economic nationalism, we can crush the Democrats.
If the rats think that destroying statues will win elections for them again. They are even more insane then I could have even imagined.
Meanwhile in Arlington:
The Confederate flag was taken down because it offends black people.
The French flag was taken down because it offended black people once they remembered that merchsnment flying the French flag did a hefty trade in slaves and also out of empathy for France sticking Haitans with the bill for winning their freedom in that revolt.
The Spanish flag was taken down because it offends First Americans.
The Texas flag was taken down because it offends Mexicans.
The Mexican flag was taken down because Texans threatened a boycott if it was flying but the Texas flag wasn’t.
And finally the American flag was flown at half staff out of sympathy for all her victims. Then they just took it down altogether because “**** it!” nothing is very much fun anymore now that all of our turns have come on.
What values? They are obsessed with destroying Trump and cannot seem to think of anything else.
And I think it's a bit too late to worry about starting a culture war. It's already started.
So was this author paid as a reporter or as a Democrat strategist?
How’s that?
They got commie care.
They got gay marriage.
They got the tranny bit.
Why shouldn’t they keep piling on?
I’m not saying the majority agrees with it, just that the force of law is acting behind their measures.
The culture war is growing, the flames growing ever higher.
Almost a year ago, one of my sisters complained about a joke email I sent to my siblings, and lambasted me to never send her any political emails ever again. So I received a Facebook link posting from her about impeaching Trump (sis is a liberal). I sent a one-line email reminding her that she didn’t want political mail, so return the courtesy to me by not sending political mail... and I added that Trump is my hero. She went off the deep end, sending a very long email trashing me and Trump. Liberals are so sensitive and touchy!!!
Mob rule doesn’t go over too well with most people.
