North Korea said it was ready to sink a US aircraft carrier to demonstrate its military might, while US President Donald Trump prepared to call on China and Japan to assist in mounting pressure on the rogue nation.

The United States ordered the USS Carl Vinson carrier strike group to sail into waters off the Korean peninsula in response to growing concern over the North's nuclear and missile tests, and its threats to attack the US and its Asian allies.

The US government has not specified where the carrier strike group is as it approaches the area.

The aircraft carrier is currently in the Indian Ocean and US Vice President Mike Pence said on Saturday it would arrive "within days," but gave no other details.

North Korea remained defiant.

"Our revolutionary forces are combat-ready to sink a US nuclear-powered aircraft carrier with a single strike," the Rodong Sinmun, the newspaper of the North's ruling Workers' Party, said in a commentary.

The paper likened the aircraft carrier to a "gross animal" and said a strike on it would be "an actual example to show our military's force".

The commentary was carried on page three of the newspaper, after a two-page feature about leader Kim Jong Un inspecting a pig farm....

The last carrier we lost was an Essex class with an unarmored flight deck around 1945. The Nimitz class is nothing like that.

Well, OK - Kimmie is ready to soil himself.

Do you want THAT on your conscience?

When a threat to unleash World War III follows a detailed synopsis of Dear Leader ogling hog production, its kinda hard to take seriously.

I know.

But just an attack would be excuse enough.

They couldn’t hurt anyone.

Speculation...one nuke takes out Kim and all the top leadership in Pyongyang without warning. Do the lower level commanders who have done nothing but follow orders their whole lives launch a general attack on the south on their own?

Difficult to say. There are competing motivations. Juche calls for self-reliance but not apart from a ‘dear leader’.

So it’ll play out in one of two ways: Either they become paralyzed borg because their queen has been taken out or they launch.

Sometimes a H-nuke can do a lot of fixing if the NK military and NK People will not fix it. Time is running out for the idiocy and idiots and crazy is in the cards. NK has to play the hand they hold. Thanking God that the United States does not hold the “hand of cards” NK holds

In agreement over using the ‘big guns’. A few well placed hydrogen bombs could neutralize NK as an effective fighting force in the blink of an eye. Shipyards, rail heads, capital city, military barracks, armament factories, and dug in artillery emplacements along the DMZ... simply gone in an instant. It would spare civilians in the countryside, and their military would simply defect from a hit like that.

Kim and the military need to be eliminated and a “Marshall Plan” put in place. The people of that country need to be liberated.

I got a laugh over the recent media hype over the size of the MOAB. You’d need to up the MOAB by three orders of magnitude to equal a hastily made fission device. Then you get to the “H” series which are three orders of magnitude larger still. If any city deserved to be reduced to nubs of fused rebar sticking out of glazed concrete slabs, it’s Pyongyang.

And if we were to nuke N. Korea, somewhere Gen. MacArthur will be laughing his fool head off.

How different the world would be if MacArthur and Patton were allowed to finish the job.
