The White House dismissed Donald Trump’s criticism Thursday that U.S. military leaders are giving the Islamic State advance warning of impending battles, saying President Obama trusts his generals more than the Republican nominee.
“The president is confident that he’s getting good advice from our senior military leaders,” said White House press secretary Josh Earnest.
He said the Pentagon’s military guidance for the president is “better advice than anything the Republican nominee might have to say two weeks before the election.”
Mr. Trump has criticized the administration for allowing military leaders to announce plans to retake Mosul in Iraq from the Islamic State months in advance.
“Whatever happened to the element of surprise?” he asked in the third presidential debate.
