Patrick Mahomes is the best football player in the world.
Once upon a time, he was also a baseball prospect at Texas Tech who came close to following in his MLB dad's footsteps after being selected in the 37th round of the 2014 MLB Draft.

But before even that, Mahomes was a budding basketball star at Whitehouse High School in East Texas who lit up his opponents with 'saucy' skills on the hardwood.
Former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III recently shared throwback footage of Mahomes hooping in high school.
RGIII posted the highlights package with the caption: "Kansas City Chiefs All Galaxy QB Patrick Mahomes saucy basketball highlights @PatrickMahomes", with a shocked face emoji.
Mahomes responded, writing: "I promise I was hoopin!!! They didn’t have to put the charge on the highlights tho," along with three crying while laughing emojis.

"That’s on me my guy," Griffin III replied. "Wanted to show the people you can dunk, shoot, cross over pull up, dribble drive, post up, play defense and pass."
He wasn't lying.
The footage starts with Mahomes showing some serious hang time and slamming down three one-handed dunks.
The future NFL icon then makes a series of mid range jumpers and 3 point shots while also showing off some silky dribble moves.

At one point, Pat receives the ball in the low post and plays bully ball with one unfortunate defender who is no match for Mahomes' physicality.
The future three-time Super Bowl MVP showcases his full repertoire by taking a charge, grabbing a steal and throwing a well-timed bounce pass to start a fast break.

The footage ends with Mahomes dishing out a delightful dime - a trademark of his NFL career - to a teammate who finishes an easy lay-up.
"Air Mahomes," wrote one fan.

The latest footage comes after the Chiefs shared a clip of an even younger Mahomes sinking a game-winning shot.

Playing in a mostly empty large gym and wearing a yellow jersey, Mahomes dribbled the ball up court before unleashing a long throw that somehow sailed through the basket.
Mahomes is briefly seen in the video raising his arms, before the footage suddenly ends.
The 28-year-old ultimately decided to pursue a career in pro football but insisted that his training in pitching and playing basketball improved his quarterback skills.
